Every year, I think just maybe the Academy won't suck. I guess I'm an optimist, but, Crash??? Come on! It was my least favorite of all the nominees!
I enjoyed both George Clooney and Reese Witherspoon's speeches, they were intelligent and interesting. And that's all I'm taking from this year.

The Oscars this year were the WORST! It felt like torture. Even the red carpet sucked. They showed hardly anyone. And I thought I was going to lose my mind if I was subjected to one more montage.

I know--I hate how uppity everyone is... That stupid President speech just made me want to buy Bootleg DVDs from the 42nd St. subway station. "Blah blah blah big screen give us your $11 a pop: we deserve it." BOO!
And it sucked how Jon Stewart is adorable and self-deprecating and everybody was too uptight to even LISTEN to his jokes, let alone get them. Boo! Boo! Boo!

Hi yb, I thought I could respond here instead of taking up space on outinleftfield's blog.
I did like Crash and I did not find it too preachy or anything like that. I will be honest though, I never saw any of the other nominees for best picture. All those movies takes months before they play here, and I can't afford to see them in theatres, so I won't see any of them until they hit the video store.
So I guess its wrong of me to say it was my favorite for best picture because it was the only one I saw. But that doesn't change the fact that I enjoyed the movie and that it discussed a topic that should no longer need to be discussed.
